June 23, 2025-Camping at Petit Jean

(click for today's pictures)

t was a warm day at Petit Jean. The high was 90, so Robby and I tried to beat the heat a little bit this morning and went on a walk. We walked for about 2 miles, and even though we had started before 9, it was still a little warm by the time that we finished.

We had a slow day for the most part. I didn't think about crocheting until fairly late in the afternoon. Robby and I would got outside for a little bit, and then we would go inside when we got too warm. It wasn't horrible in the shade, but every once in a while the sun would come from behind a cloud, and it would get hot.

Whitman rode his bike around a few times yesterday, but he didn't today at all. When we walked the hill, Robby and I both agreed that the hilly part of our loop was pretty hilly after all. I actually rode the bike around yesterday and told Robby that we would need electric bikes someday because that hill was almost too much for me.

We went with the Smiths tonight to the Rock House Cave trail. It is a short trail where you walk over turtle shaped rocks to get to a large cave shelter where there is ancient writings from native Americans. It took us no time to explore the cave, and the boys enjoyed climbing on the rocks.

Once we were back at the campground, we started on hamburgers for supper. Then we sat outside and visited. While I visited, I stayed busy tracking the kids who have all had a busy day.

Reagan has been in Monticello on the children's mission trip today. She spent part of her time at Walmart with the kids purchasing things to give away. Nonna did some driving today for me and took Keaton to Bible study at church, Anderson went to help a friend do something before he met the others at David's Burger for the lunch hangout with the youth. Campbell and Graham drove to lunch and met Keaton and Anderson. Keaton went home with a friend, but later in the afternoon Graham picked her up before picking up Grannymom from her D.C. trip. Next Anderson took Campbell to a birthday party, and then Graham picked her up. They all have been a busy day, and I'm thankful that everyone is snug in their beds!
