  • We woke up even later this morning but still managed to get slow-poke out of the door. This was supposed to be eggs and toast day but ha, that was never going to happen. It was "grab what you want because I am going to start reading in 60 seconds."
  • Everyone did their school. My favorite thing right now is Reagan, Anderson and Graham's writing program. This is Reagan's third year with it so it isn't anything new, but I guess for the first time I am seeing just how good it really is. This is Graham's first year with it and he doesn't seem to mind it and does even enjoy it. I have even bought the next level for next year for Reagan.
  • Everyone was finished with their school by lunch time. The kids were thrilled that I pulled out the panani maker. We usually heat their sandwiches in the toaster oven so there really wasn't too much different but everyone thought it was the best thing ever. Possibly, they just enjoyed eating their sandwiches because they were warm and it was cold in this house.
  • I had on my shorts and a jacket so I wasn't too chilly. Though I did miss the sun shining through my bedroom window during school. But when I noticed that Anderson was wearing gloves and hat, I decided that maybe we should turn the heat up. It was just a chilly day.
  • The afternoon seemed to fly by and soon we were loading up to meet Whitman, Grannymom and Grandpa at Chickfila. They were giving away free kids meals if the kids were dressed up and Robby used his free Chickfila meals so all 10 of us ate for free. Sorry Chickfila. Then it was on to Krispy Kreme for a free doughnut.
  • Then the trick or treating began. We stopped at Grannymom's house, Danas, then Nonna and Pops' house. Nonna's neighbor was even handing out full size Hershey bars. Then we made it over to Hurricane.
  • It was pretty trafficy over there but we hopped out and started walking. Our first real stop was at the Browns where the kids were delighted to receive their annual popcorn and cotton candy. After this, we pressed on despite the sprinkling rain. We hit as many houses as we could.
  • Whitman still slows us down a bit-he is so easily distracted. He would just stand staring at someone's jack o lantern while 20 people walked to the door in front of him. Towards the end, he would take about 2 minutes to climb out 7 steps-I guess he was exhausted from his day at school, afternoon at Grannymom's house and then even time at Rock Creek. We waked at least a mile tonight and I was having to pull his little hand the entire way.
  • Once at home, the kids showered and then immediately dumped their candy and started trading. I took over Whitman's pile and started trading for myself. I am sure that we will have some of their candy tonight. After they traded until we could trade no more, they headed to bed.
  • It was the pretty perfect Halloween-lots of candy, decent weather (we were dressed in many, many layers for the cold, wet night), not too much walking, saw all of the family and did I mention lots of candy?

  • I am not sure who was awake first this morning but I do know who was not awake first-me, the girls and Whitman. I woke up the girls and then woke up Whitman. As I carried the sleeping boy down the stairs, Robby and I laughed thinking about when school at home would start next year since we won't have to hurry to take Whitman to school. Hopefully, we will still wake up at about the same time...if we want to finish anything near lunch time.
  • After Whitman and Robby left, the rest of us had our breakfast. I read to everyone and then we did our work together. We didn't quite finish everything but did more than we did all of last week combined.
  • I had asked everyone to do their difficult school work first since Reagan and I had to leave. I was hoping for them to finish all of the work that I have to grade before I left. I can tell that the older the kids get, the less I have to work individually with them but the more I have to grade correct their work (for example-I work with Graham on 3 subjects but have to really grade 2 subjects, I work with Reagan on just 1 subject but I have to grade 6 of her subjects. I might just need me a student teacher.
  • At 11, Reagan and I hopped in the car heading to her orthodontist. She had a bracket that came off and we were there for about 10 minutes before we were heading back out the door. We stopped at Kroger on the way home, and once at home, I had a lot of grading to do before we even started lunch.
  • We did eat our lunch and then did chores for a while. The kids were anxious for the neighbors to come out so I did text and in the late afternoon they did come out. Most everyone spent much of the afternoon outside.
  • Nonna and Pops brought Whitman home from spending the afternoon at their house. I worked on some Christmas gifts and changing over Campbell's clothes. She is the only one who I have left to pull out her winter clothes. I am glad that I have almost finished that task!
  • Robby took Anderson and Graham to basketball practice tonight. They don't know their teams yet still scrimmaged with their possible teams. Back at home, the girls and Whitman all showered. Campbell stayed out until it was almost dark and I finally called her home.
  • I had soup ready for everyone when they boys came home and then the evening festivities began. The Wilsons came over and we all started carving our pumpkins. The girls picked out a Minion to make and the boys chose a Trick or Treat Skeleton. Whitman didn't understand why he couldn't do his own pumpkin and had to help the boys. He kept asking for something sharp.
  • We finally finished all of the pumpkins and celebrated with s'mores. We took some pictures outside and then it was too late to do much of anything else. The kids helped us straighten up and then they headed to bed while Robby vacuumed and mopped the kitchen. There is nothing like going to bed with a super clean kitchen!

  • Whitman ended up sleeping fine all last night, and this morning when I asked which ear hurt, he could not remember. We will chalk it all up to a fluke unless something happens tonight. Fortunately, his ENT appointment is in two weeks.
  • Whitman and I had to wake everyone up this morning. Everyone quickly put on their church clothes and found themselves breakfast. Before too long, we were in the car headed to church.
  • We did church, and then we headed to Grannymom's house for lunch. She had chili and it hit the spot on a chilly Sunday morning. Dana worked on a craft project and I helped while the kids played some. They also walked down the Lilly's house to see her new room. Later, we picked up everyone and then headed home for Sunday afternoon naps.
  • Well, only two of us took a Sunday afternoon nap. I tried my best to convince others to take a nap too but I had no takers...until on the way back to church tonight. Whitman fell asleep on the way and snoozed through over half of church.
  • Tonight Graham and Campbell's choir sang 3 songs. They did a great job and then the choir sang a few more songs. It was great and I do wish every Sunday night could be like that. Whitman, on the other hand, wished that it could have been a bit shorter.
  • After the service, we grabbed a bite to eat and then headed home, We had a few minutes to straighten the house before it was bedtime. Tonight, everyone is in their own beds and I hope that Whitman's house long snooze during church doesn't stop him from falling asleep tonight.

  • Whitman came downstairs around 6:30 this morning. He then went back to sleep until 8. I was awake from 7 on but didn't move out of the bed. I kind of felt like a Walmart greeter greeting everyone as the came in our room this morning. "Can I eat breakfast?" yes "Can I play the xbox?" yes "What can I eat?" I don't care "Can you help me find something?" no "Do we have any waffles?" no  "Can I go outside?" yes "How long should I put this in the microwave?" 12 seconds. This went on and on and surprisingly, Whitman slept through it all and Robby did a really great job of acting like he was sleeping through all of this.
  • We finally did get out of the bed. Robby tried to get a shower and was met with cold water. That wasn't how he wanted to start his morning. My first task was picking up the kitchen which quickly becomes a mess when everyone finds their own breakfasts.
  • Graham packed for Grannymom and Grandpa to come and pick him up. They were headed home to watch the Hogs play. Grandpa and Robby fixed the hot water heater (Later in the day, the gas company came saying that had a something or another happen someplace so now they had to check all of the houses to make sure all gas appliances were working. Not sure, but it involved the gas lady going all around the house checking furnaces and hot water heaters. This all did mean that the hot water heater wasn't breaking and only messed up because of whatever happened.)
  • During the first half of the game, we sorted 7 million legos. Anderson spends hours in the lego nook each week but none of those hours are spent putting up the legos that he plays with. We moved things around and now have everything looking spic and span. It was probably last for about 2 days.
  • Then we had lunch followed by me helping Anderson make a truck during the second half of the game. We finally finished just as the game was over. Robby decided that maybe Graham being at Grannymom's house was good luck for the Hogs so he will probably have to go to their house for the rest of the football season.
  • After the game, the kids all headed outside to the neighbors house. I eventually had to call Reagan and Anderson home to go their Fall Party for the preteens at church. I met Jodee and she took them which was great for me!
  • Then I came home to pick up everyone else and we headed out to eat. Due to a coupon and a gift card mix up, we only paid 5 bucks for our meal at PeiWei tonight. That couldn't have been better but now we have eaten out two nights in a row...which is okay since we didn't have any food in this house.
  • I could spend everyone Friday and Saturday night at the grocery store but gracious, they are reorganizing my store and things are all  mixed up. Nothing makes me more upset than that. Cokes were in the produce section, juice boxes were by the meat and straws weren't to be found anywhere. We still did some damage but one thing that makes me super happy is watching my total start off pretty high and then creep downward with all of the sales and coupons. If I could only get it to creep downward to the 2 digit numbers that would be wonderful!
  • At the grocery store tonight, Whitman said that his ear felt funny. By the time we left the store, he was saying that his ear hurt. It is the same ear that Dr. Martin said had fluid in it earlier this week. So maybe that fluid is really 12 weeks old and has just become infected or maybe he was getting a cold (with really no other symptoms) which caused new fluid which is now infected. Either way, the boy was pretty pitiful by the time we made it home.
  • Once at home, Robby and I pulled the groceries out of the car and then Campbell and Keaton helped me unload them while Robby went to pick up Anderson, Reagan and Kennedy from their Fall Party.
  • When the groceries were unloaded, I put Whitman in the shower hoping that would help. Then I battled him with some Tylenol. He ended up drinking it fine and was happy to do eardrops. Just about as soon as I put them in his ear, he snuggled with me and fell sound asleep. Of course, all I could hear in my head was my voice telling him on Monday that he had to get his flu shot to keep him healthy. Just 6 days later, he isn't healthy!
  • When Robby came in with the others, he made Whitman a spot by our bed and I laid him down. He hasn't moved since then so hopefully, he will sleep well tonight. His ear might be the reason that he has been waking up the past few nights coming downstairs.
  • The girls had already had showers and the big kids then took them. Reagan and Kennedy were playing upstairs so we didn't let Campbell and Keaton go up. This caused them to be very sour which led to them getting to sleep in Anderson's room with him. He acted like he wasn't pleased with this but that boy does not like to be alone so I am pretty sure that he was secretly glad that someone was with him. (Whitman is downstairs and Graham is at Grannymom's house.)
  • As Anderson was going to bed tonight, I asked him about his fall party. This being his first preteen party, I was curious. He had lots of fun playing but he did not enjoy the hayride. Anderson said that it was a 35 minute hay ride which had to go around 5 acres. He continued with "it went 3 miles per hour, putt, putt, putt." He ended with saying that the hayride was "pointless." Man, he is just a little Robby.
  • 10:30 update: We heard the pitter patter of little feet and then heard Whitman shout, "Where is everybody?" He wasn't pleased to learn that they were all asleep. He sat in my lap for a bit and then asked to sleep in his bed. Ha! That is where Keaton was banished too. I did convince him to sleep next to me while on the floor. He is currently laying back down so we will see what happens!
  • 10:55 update: This time we heard our bedroom door slam close. He was down at least long enough for us to eat our weekend ice cream. Now, this time he asked to sleep in his "normal" bed. Again, that one is already occupied tonight. Gracious me! Who knows where everyone will be sleeping tonight.

  • I had told Robby last night that I would really like to wake up early and make muffins this morning. We both laughed knowing that even though I would really like to do this, it was never going to happen. Especially since it was well after 1 when we had that conversation.
  • Whitman crawled into bed with us around 4. He told me something when he came in bed and I assumed that he was just complaining that he wasn't in his pjs. I didn't change his clothes last night when I put him in bed; I just added a pull up. I was awake enough to understand him asking to sleep in the middle. I guess it was probably because Whitman was pushing Robby out of the bed, that Robby was the one who woke up to make my muffins this morning.
  • While I was getting ready, Robby fed everyone and even read to them our morning readings. We didn't have to leave until after 8:30, so we were able to get a bit of things done this morning.
  • Then it was off to the Historic Arkansas Museum. I was pretty excited about this event and was pleased to see that there was no rain in the forecast this morning-just overcast. We were still on 630 when it started raining and we could hear the thunder. It was our group and 2 other groups that were there and while we were in the opening, I guess the bottom fell out. Because of the lightening, we couldn't go out to the houses on the grounds.
  • That meant that we were divided into groups and rotated around the building to different areas. It was fine-nothing like churning butter right by the bathrooms or learning about candles in the entryway. I was just a bit bummed with the whole event. They did offer that we could come back any Tuesday if we just let them know and I think for sure that we will try it again. It did make me super glad that we went to Old Washington a few weeks ago.
  • Afterwards, I figured that since we were downtown, we should go to the downtown library. The kids were under impressed. Reagan is reading Harry Potter so she doesn't need a book. Anderson is my slow reader and said he didn't need a book. Graham needs a book, but he quickly gave up. I don't know how to teach the kids that if they don't know what book they want, then they just have to look around for a book. Campbell quickly found a few books and Keaton and Whitman loaded up.
  • Then we ran to pick up a pizza and headed home for a late lunch. After lunch, we did a little bit of nothing. There was some movie making, some ipad playing, Whitman tried to watch a movie on the tv but the disc was bad, there was some nap taking (me-in defense, I have been battling a cold since at least Tuesday) and there was a lot of outside playing.
  • The outside playing meant that there was lots of jacket getting and lots of glove and hat finding. I do think that use of a parka, hat and gloves might have been a bit much but I certainly let it happen since they were outside and happy. Everyone stayed outside until almost 7 when we had to call them home.
  • As soon as they came in, we all walked out the door. We needed something to do tonight and headed to El Chico to eat supper. The cheese dip was good and plentiful but we are yet to find our favorite Friday night supper stop. Next time we might just go to Kroger and buy what we need and then buy something fun for supper.
  • When we made it home, everyone had to have showers after the afternoon outside and after eating Mexican. After showers, the kids had a bit of ipad time before bed.

  • Whitman came downstairs a bit after 7 this morning and asked to sleep with us. That was certainly fine but I guess that he didn't realize that it was already wake up time. The house was chilly and still pretty dark. Graham was still asleep and I am not sure about Anderson so the boy was probably pretty confused.
  • Whitman was ready to head to school today because it was "L" day, and he had finger "L"ights to pass out to everyone. They also played on the outside playground all day long which is thrilling when you are 4.
  • The rest of us had our first full day of school this week. We did our work together (well, some of it-we do have to start back gradually). I also did all of my work with everyone else. Anderson was not too happy with me because I made him type his writing lesson for the day. I would think that this would be a positive because it did allow him to skip tying today. They have been doing a little typing program on the computer, but I am beginning to think that the best way to learn that is by just doing.
  • We finished around noon and the kids were ready to go outside-more trick shot filming had been planned. I did hold them off until after lunch and chores. Then I went through Campbell and Reagan's bins of winter clothes. They don't have that many and Reagan is still picky so their clothes are few. Since Reagan wears the same thing over and over, it will be fine though.
  • The neighbors were out most of the afternoon so the kids were too. Nonna and Pops brought Whitman home after playing at their house for a bit, and he was quick to stay outside with Robby.
  • We worked in the yard for a bit and around supper time, we started scrambling around. Everyone changed and ate, and before too long Campbell and I were in one car and the others were in another car.
  • I took Campbell to basketball tryouts tonight. She was cute out there trying her best. Robby took the others to start Booseum downtown. They started their event at the Mosaic Templer. Robby said that it was the best stop of the evening-games, prizes, candy, cupcakes, drinks, popcorn. It took them over and hour to make this stop. There were a total of 9 stops and if you made them all then you were able to enter your name for a drawing.
  • I was quite surprised that the first stop took them an hour and they were just on the 3rd stop when Campbell and I arrived after her practice. It was the Arts Center stop and it was kind of sad. There wasn't much to it at all. So the kids and Robby had to tell us all about what we had missed.
  • Next up was MacArthur Museum and the highlight there was getting to pop a balloon to win a prize. Whitman won a yo-yo and he promptly told the man that he couldn't do that. The very next station, Whitman was given a yo-yo again. He was less than happy. Thankfully, he had many brothers and sisters that were willing to trade with him.
  • Tomorrow we are going to the Historic Arkansas Museum but we also went there tonight. They had a cake walk and my big boys played until they won. Then they played until everyone won. We came home with at least 2 boxes of twinkies.
  • There was also the Old State House which was a pretty neat stop with more candy than the other stops. From there, we hightailed it to the Nature Center because the clock was ticking. When we walked up, there doors were closed and someone said that they closed at 8. We still just walked right in when someone walked out since we had until 8:30 and needed our stamps.
  • Robby said that he felt like we were on the show Amazing Race running all over town stopping at all of the museums. At some of the stops, he would drop of us and at others, he were find a spot and we would all jump out.
  • Somewhere during the evening we stopped at Curran Hall and the NLR Heritage Center. Our final stop was at the Museum of Discovery. We had plenty of time there and the kids were so impressed with putting rubber bands around a pumpkin-when enough rubber bands were around the pumpkin then the pumpkin would burst. They worked and worked but their pumpkin never did burst. We did see a few on the floor that had already opened up. They are making plans for doing this at home soon.
  • We finished all 9 stops by 8:30 and walked the final few blocks back to the car. Robby took me to my car, and then I followed him to Dairy Queen. We had to get our free weekly Blizzards. It was a bit night out and by the time that we made it home, Whitman was sound asleep-I could have been too.
  • Robby and I unloaded the car (candy, costumes, trash and Whitman) while the kids put on their pjs and brushed their teeth. Then it was bedtime because tomorrow might just be as busy as today!

  • Micheal usually wake up pretty early at his house so around 5, I really started dozing. Thankfully though, he slept until 7:30 when everyone else in the house was starting to stir. The boys were all awake and Campbell came down just as I was getting Micheal set up in the living room with a movie while I showered.
  • After my shower, I found Whitman in my bed. He sadly said, "I came to lay beside you." Of course, I did lay beside him. I think that he was feeling a bit neglected with lots of attention going to Micheal.  That is all probably pretty good for Whitman.
  • Everyone put on their clothes and I helped get breakfasts for everyone. I was still scrambling around when it was time to leave but did manage to heat up my Wednesday bagel. We arrived at Bible study just as Kennedy arrived with her grandma. We walked in with Kennedy since Jodee was with a friend this morning. So me and 8 kiddos walked in together! Everyone went to class fine-Micheal did fuss some but when I walked back by, he was just fine.
  • After Bible study, I picked up the crew and then we all picked up pizza. We met Jodee at the park and she brought brownies for a dessert. The kids enjoyed playing and I enjoyed the conversation.
  • Back at home, the kids helped with some chores and Micheal took a nap. I worked on the clothes change over a bit as well as my Christmas gift blocks. The kids played outside mostly-the boys are still working on their trick shot videos which inspired the girls to do one too. Reagan spent the afternoon with Kennedy, even trying out her dance class. Micheal's grandma came to pick him up after his nap. And then soon it was supper time. Robby had made soup and it was delicious-or maybe it was just warm and hit the spot.
  • I ran into the library before we went to church. Since it was chilly tonight, this was the first night that we had to do games. It does make the night go by quicker but I think my talking to many preschoolers at once, just made my sore throat worse.
  • Robby had made cookies so everyone enjoyed one when we came home. Then it was pj time followed very closely by bedtime.

  • Another day of only being able to do a bit of school around here. That meant breakfast was grab what you want while I read a bit to you and then go and do your work. Whitman had about 2 bites of his pop tart when Robby called for him to load up. And yes, the "no eating in the car" rule is already gone. Life happens and people got to eat.
  • Since it was a hurried morning that did mean that the kids get by with a bit less of school. They love this and I don't really mind since they are still doing a full day's worth. Everyone is at the end of their old math book or at the beginning of their next math book and somehow all of their math is pretty easy right now-Keaton is skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s, Campbell is doing graphs and charts, Graham is doing roman numerals, Anderson is doing powers and Reagan's math is easy but tricky. Right now she is doing things like (+3)-(-9) which the answer to that is positive 12. Who knew! I am having to relearn math along with her even though math was one of my favorites.
  • I left for Whitman's fall party. He is the funniest child because he was so excited during this party. Every game was the best and he sure didn't hesitate to tell Ms. Stacy about all of the fun that he had. He was on cloud 9 when we left and didn't hesitate to dump everything out of his goodie bags on the way home.
  • The kids were all finished with their school when I returned home. Anderson had laid out everything that he needed for me to check on the bar so soon all school work was finished. Soon Wes brought Michael over for the day. Candice is going out of town on a mission trip and their little man stayed behind with us today and tomorrow.
  • He wasn't too sure about Wes leaving but by the time he made it to the kitchen, he saw the boys playing and quickly joined them. He played with the boys for about 3.9 seconds and then the girls took him over.
  • Campbell and Keaton have been no more than 2 feet from him the entire time that he has been here. They have said his name at least 2 billion times. Micheal would go outside-they would follow, Micheal would go upstairs-they would follow, Micheal would come inside-they would follow...you get the idea. It was quite comical to me, but they were exhausted by the end of the day!
  • Micheal did take a brief nap-he wasn't keen on the idea at all so I read him a book and bribed him with milk. That worked well and he did rest for about an hour. During that time, Graham and I changed over his clothes and I made 5 more signs.
  • After Micheal did wake up, the kids really spent the rest of the afternoon outside. The boys were making a movie trailer all about trick shots. Reagan was did the filming and it was pretty funny hearing them all scream and yell with excitement when they completed one of their trick shots. Even though I was sitting inside of this cinder-block and brick house, I could hear them like they were in the next room. Glad we don't have close neighbors.
  • Robby came home eventually with pizza for supper. The kids gobbled it up and then it was shower time. The kids cycled through the showers. We all do showers over here but Micheal wanted a bath-I threw enough toys in the shower that he was happy but he did not want for me to shut the door. Ha! As soon as I pulled him out, I threw Whitman in. Whitman was delighted to have toys in the shower since all he usually gets to play with his a wash cloth.
  • The kids did some more movie making and then we watched a Toy Box tv show before going to bed. Whitman and Micheal stayed busy on the ipads while the rest of us watched the show. Then it was teeth brushing time and bed time for all. I put Micheal in my bedroom and with a big sippy cup of milk he went on to bed without a fuss. I think I might just get me a cup of milk too!

  • I was having the craziest dream this morning so I was glad to wake up and start the day. The boys were all awake this morning on their ipads. I laid out Whitman's clothes and he was ready by the time I made it back down the stairs from waking up the girls.
  • We had our breakfasts as I read to everyone. Then Robby hauled Whitman to school and the rest of us started on school. Since we had to leave early, I just did spelling with everyone and not all of their other items. This helped me be able to finish before we had to leave and gave them a bit more time to get their work done.
  • We met Whitman at the doctor's office and everyone was thrilled to be there. Whitman walked in the door telling everyone that he was healthy. This was his attempt at saying that he didn't need the shot that I kept telling him would keep him healthy. Reagan was panicked because I thought it was time for the second of one of her immunizations. Fortunately for her, it was too early for that.
  • When it was shot time, Anderson stepped up to have his first. Whitman and I were taken to a room but I did hear Keaton. Robby said that she was crying before she even got her shot. I am not really sure if she was crying or yelling.
  • Whitman had an ear recheck, and after 12 weeks one of his ears still has fluid behind it. Urgh. That means we are now headed to an ENT appointment. (Along with an appointment for Reagan since one of her brackets came off today, I need to go back to the eye doctor because my contacts are wonky and I'll need a check up before the end of the year...I think I'm having a panic attack! Ha!) Anyway, if his ear is full of fluid then that makes hearing pretty tough in that ear. Hopefully, the fluid will be gone by the time our appointment rolls around in November.
  • Once we all made it back home, we ate lunch followed by some chores. The kids vegged for a bit and then the girls started on putting together a dollhouse that Campbell received last Christmas. Everyone went outside (not voluntarily) for a bit this afternoon. I walked on the treadmill some too.
  • I heated up a skillet meal for supper and I thought that it was pretty decent. There were quite a few veggies which I ate, but no one else in this house ate. Well, Whitman did eat a piece of squash since I made him before he had another piece of cheese toast (which I made because I didn't want for my people to starve.)
  • Robby took the boys to basketball tryouts tonight. Whitman, Reagan, Campbell and Keaton didn't came downstairs at all while they were gone-well, except for the last 10 minutes while we scrambled and rushed everyone to the showers. They were all upstairs working on making a movie on the ipad. Reagan did the filming and producing, Keaton was a mermaid, Campbell was something (I forgot) and Whitman was a crab.
  • Once the boys made it home, they showered and everyone had a bite of cereal before it was time for bed. Tomorrow will be another busy day.

  • I think that Robby and I slept in a bit too long this morning. We were at less than an hour left when we did finally get out of bed. There is never any panic when we do wake up late; I just went about getting myself ready while he stirred the sleeping kids. The big boys were already awake, dressed and playing xbox.
  • After I had finished getting ready, I made sure that Whitman put on his clothes and did the girls' hair. Again this Sunday, we had multiple different seasons happening-there were boots and there were also sandals. We will get it together one day but today was not the day.
  • We made it to church and were able to see Nonna and Pops before the service started but it was already beginning when we made it Grannymom and Grandpa's pew. Since changing services, we do have to arrive a wee bit earlier but gracious, we couldn't be any happier.
  • Whitman sat between Robby and I during church and he did seem to do a bit better. Once Robby told him to be still and he shot back, "but it is so hard for me." That couldn't be any more true.
  • We celebrated Pops' birthday at their house today. Nonna had made a big lunch which poor Pops' couldn't have any of because he is eating healthily right now. He opened his presents-a vacuum and gift cards. The kids had some time to play and then we headed home.
  • At home, Robby and I snoozed while the kids had themselves a bit ole time downstairs. We napped today in the bonus room and it is always interesting walking down the steps wondering what exactly you will find. Today, things were pretty decent and the only highlight was baking soda all of the kitchen floor.
  • When it was supper time, I read some school stuff to the kids as they cleaned out the fridge with all of their supper choices. Tomorrow will be a bit crazy during school time so we did what we could tonight. Then it was time to pick up the house and take showers.
  • After that, we all watched one tv show before putting everyone into bed. It is now ice cream time and then there will be no more ice cream until next weekend.
  • Tonight while we were watching a show about two people getting married, Whitman told me that I should have married a different Daddy. Robby did take Whitman's ipad away from him for the day and I think that Whitman was still a bit bitter about this. He continued to tell me that our Daddy is too bossy.

  • We slept as late as we could this morning which was later than I had expected. Well, I guess I can't really say that we slept later than usual because we were awake at about the same time. Everyone that was in this house came and asked about breakfast. They wanted to know if they could eat by themselves and once we told them that Robby was going to cook, then they wanted to know when he was going to start that cooking.
  • We had a few leftover cans of biscuits and cinnamon rolls that he baked along with some fried eggs. The kids were finally happy to have their breakfast. After the kitchen was clean, I started on my gift project for a bit. (I had much better success today-6 for 6 worked out well though I am not yet finished with them.)
  • I did go through Keaton's bins with Reagan and Keaton. Reagan helped me show Keaton clothes letting her decide if she wanted them. Everything that could possibly fit her, she wanted. This floored Reagan who only wants about 1/10th of what would fit her. I have changed over Whitman's clothes and now have out clothes ready to switch for Keaton, Anderson and Graham. So I still have a lot of work to do next week-my goal is to finish that project by November-maybe the first week of November.
  • Robby and Graham left for a day out. Last May, the kids all learned the Gettysburg Address and earned a venture out with Robby. It has been so long that I don't even remember what all everyone else did. I do know that some went to the movies but I think some did something else. Anyway, Graham ended up having a big day out-eating at Tropical Smoothie, putt-putt at Big Rock and a Blizzard from Dairy Queen.
  • The rest of us picked up the house and then headed to pick up Campbell from Nonna and Pops' house. Campbell had spent the morning baking-she baked a cake for Sunday lunch, a birthday cake for Pops and cookies for us to eat. She quickly passed out her cookies which were delicious.
  • Our next stop was Micheal's. They had a slime event and the kids and I all made a bag of slime. It is supposed to glow in the dark but I don't think it does. It was fun (and free) but also unorganized which grates on my nerves...or maybe just craft projects grate on my nerves.
  • Once we made it home, the kids added glitter to their slime, added color and even made more slime. There is glitter ever where in my kitchen-I even think there was glitter in our taco soup tonight that we had for supper.
  • Graham and Robby came home along with a trunk load of groceries. After unloading those, Robby changed a light bulb on the eave of the house so I had to supervise his ladder skills. I had time to make our supper in the crock pot and then we put on costumes and headed out.
  • Tonight was Spook City in Benton. We went years ago and had at least 1 stroller to deal with (possibly 2) and all I can remember is that it was crowded and crazy. This year we arrived at least 15 minutes early and it was already crowded but manageable.
  • The kids racked up on candy. Whitman's bucket was so heavy that he had trouble carrying it to the car. The kids could hardly wait to get home to dump out their candy and inspect everything. Then the trading began. The louder Robby would turn up the game, the louder the trading became.
  • We ate our supper and then watched the Hogs until we could watch no more. We did promise the boys that we would wake them up if they made a comeback. We won't know though because we are already watching something else!

  • Since it was Friday morning, I wasn't in much hurry to wake up and get school started. Campbell and Graham were already working on their school-Keaton came in and gave me a report. She laid down with me for a bit and then Campbell joined us after a while.
  • I let everyone pick their own breakfast this morning and read a bit as they all ate. Then it was time for school. After working together on a four day school week, I don't really have to work with anyone individually. I just have to check their work so by 11 I was finished with my work even though a few folks were still finishing their school.
  • I was able to put together a costume for Whitman for his book character day in November. I also did a bit of work on our teacher Christmas gifts. I did teacher gifts last year and I believe that was the first time I did Sunday school teacher gifts in many, many years. This year I am doing CBS teachers too. I tried attempted to make 7 but only came out with 3 that I could use. You would assume that 3 coats of paint would be better than 2 but apparently not! Ha! Oh, well, that is why you start things early!
  • Soon, Nonna and Pops came over to pick up Campbell. Campbell was pretty excited about leaving-she flew through her school work and packed as soon as she could. Maybe my kids need somewhere to go every day after school so they can get finished quickly. (Now, I didn't brag on Anderson yesterday but he did do 4 pages of math yesterday so he didn't have to do any today. It did help that his math was pretty easy this week.)
  • After Campbell left, I went back to work on my Christmas gifts and the kids were anything but quiet. I am not sure what all happened but they did this and did that. The house looked like a tornado had hit it. I would have thought that Whitman would have been more into his movies this afternoon since he didn't watch much this morning-he worked with me, he worked and read with Reagan, Campbell, Anderson, Graham and even Keaton read to him. He definitely got his school in this morning.
  • Robby and I went outside to play catch with the boys and ended up playing a game of football with them. I have watched football all of my life but I will say that this was the first time that I think that I have ever played football. The boys had fun but I think that I will stick to watching football.
  • We ate supper at ChickFilA and then ran to Home Depot and Walmart afterwards. Once we came home, the kids watched a bit of tv and then Robby even turned on a documentary about Hawaii. That was when I fell sound asleep.
  • While I was snoozing, Pops text and this is what I text him back, "Good bane. Glagolitic she den." I quickly caught my mistake and woke up but gracious me, sometimes I do think that I might possibly be losing my mind. I thought that today when I was having major contact problems earlier in the day and couldn't see a thing.
  • Around 10, we put the kids to bed and that is when I woke up enough to decide that I need to paint the baseboard in this room and even paint our tv cabinet....but probably not tonight.

  • Whitman joined us around 3:30ish this morning. At first, I know that we were pretty close to my side but by morning, I think that we were both sleeping on Robby's side of the bed with him. I asked Whitman later why he came down and he said that he was scared and his glow stick had stopped working.
  • Keaton joined us in bed for a bit and then I could wait no more to get out of the bed-it is hot sleeping in the middle and I had to go to the bathroom. I did go ahead and get up-some days, I feel like I have done a whole days worth of work in the first 10 minutes that I am awake.
  • The kids are always hungry in the morning time and were anxious to eat breakfast. We had waffles and pancakes this morning. I read a bit as everyone ate and then we loaded Whitman up to go to school. He had to take his homework, his show and tell and a picture to school today. He is just in preschool-I can't imagine everyone having to take a zillion things to school each day.
  • We did our work together and then everyone started on school. I was able to finish my part a bit early (just 10 or so minutes but that is reason to celebrate for me!) When Whitman came home, I greeted him at the door and he was quick to tell me all about his school day. He did say that Ryker was his new friend at school. For the longest, he hasn't been able to tell me anyone's names in his class. So glad he at least knows someone's name.
  • We had lunch and I read a plethora of books to everyone. Then the kids worked on their chores and finished up school. I started to work on changing over Whitman's clothes. I am not sure how it has happened but the boy will have no pants this season. I wondered if they had gotten moved to another box but after checking all the way to size 7, he just has no pants. The only thing that I can figure is that Anderson and then Graham completely wore out all of their pants.
  • After a while, the kids ran to Dairy Queen for their weekly Blizzard run. Whitman stayed at home with me-he doesn't like ice cream from Dairy Queen and I was busy with the big clothes change over. I finished Whitman's clothes and then went through the next boxes for the big boys. Their "next boxes" seem to get smaller and smaller. I am sure that my big boys will need more things than just a few pairs of pants.
  • I had finished my project when the others came home. The played inside for a bit and then they went outside. Campbell stayed the longest outside and barely had her shower before the Wilsons came over for supper. We fed them in exchange for Tony bringing our flu shots. The kids are all upset that I have their flu shots scheduled for next week.
  • We ended the evening with some leftover Blizzard cake. The Wilson's couldn't stay long and after they had been gone over an hour, Graham came down and asked where they were. We watched a tv show before sending everyone to bed.

  • I probably hit snooze a bit too long this morning because I was struggling to get myself ready and make everyone's lunches. Again, I probably should have made those last night but I guess I was hoping that the lunch genie would just appear last night and make our lunches. It didn't happen.
  • The kids were mostly ready this morning and even had time to help around the house some before we left. I did make sure that I had time to toast my bagel before we walked out of the door.
  • I helped in the children's area today for CBS. We have to once a year and I like to get mine over with. The class was small and cute-I will say that Robby probably doesn't want for me to work with those little bitties too often. I miss having a baby around here.
  • After Bible study, we headed to the park with our buddies. The kids played and played as the grown ups talked. They do have a fountain there and Whitman left completely soaking wet. I would have probably beat Graham if he had soaked himself like that but I guess I have softened some. I just ignored it until we made it home and made sure that he had dry undies on.
  • Once we did make it home, I did a few things around the house-read to Whitman, did his homework with him, unloaded the car, divided some meat, straightened the kitchen, cleaned the fridge and a few other things and the next thing that I knew, I was sound asleep on the couch,
  • Now, I am sure that the kids absolutely loved me taking a nap. I think that I was pretty agreeable to whatever would allow them to leave my alone-for example, I now remember Campbell asking me if they could make slime using flour. I said sure and when I did wake up, I had a whole other mess to clean in the kitchen. Actually, they did pick up most of it but flour is just hard to clean.
  • I made supper pretty quick and soon it was time to head to church. It was hat day for everyone but Reagan and Anderson. Graham wore a cowboy hat, Campbell made her own hat and Keaton and Whitman both wore baseball hats. My group was on the playground again tonight which was very nice since those nights are probably coming to an end.
  • After church, the kids changed into their pjs and I passed out cookies. Then everyone had time to play on their ipads a bit before bed.

  • I woke up at 6:30 this morning and quickly went back to sleep. There isn't much better than a few extra minutes of sleep in the mornings. Campbell came in a few times before I did get out of bed. She would hand me school work each time. Robby said that she went to town on her school last night. She did and pretty soon this morning, Campbell, Keaton and Graham were finished with their school work.
  • We barely got Whitman's breakfast before he had to get in Robby's car to head to school. Now, poor Whitman was not happy about not getting to ride in the red car. He is a bit devastated that we sold the red car (and his scooter).
  • The rest of us worked together and then we all started on our school work. The kids went to town since we had a big afternoon. My goal was to finish school by 11:30 and we did make it by 11:45.
  • As soon as we finished school, we started to work on Campbell's snickerdoodle cookies to take to her CBS class tomorrow. We were able to get the batter in the fridge before it was lunch time. I read some at lunch and then cleaned the kitchen as the kids picked up the rest of the house (Reagan had already done most of it-when she is motivated, she is really motivated.)
  • Before 1, we were walking out of the house and drove to pick up Nonna and Pops. Grannymom and Whitman were our next to pick up. Whitman came to the car and was asking Grannymom to ask "my parents if we can go to another pumpkin patch." He was so excited when he found out that we were indeed going to another pumpkin patch.
  • We zoomed on down the road to Schaeffer's Pumpkin patch in Mayflower. Even though it was just Mayflower, it was still 50 minutes from my house. The Powells and Kamps were already there and by the time we bought our tickets, the Stotts arrived.
  • The first activity was the hayride. Last year, some of the pumpkins were still on vines but I am not sure that these pumpkins actually grew were they were. However, there were rotten pumpkins around so possibly they were grown there. Either way, you ride a hayride to a pumpkin patch (a real patch) and then you hop out of the hayride and pick your pumpkin.
  • Whitman only cared about dragging his feet in the dirt. I had to pick out his pumpkin and after I did, I saw a white one that I really wanted him to trade for but he would have none of that. Reagan found a neat squatty green and orange pumpkin. I am glad that she found one so quickly because last year she was the last one back on the wagon.
  • Keaton was all about picking the biggest pumpkin that she could find with the longest stem. Pops even struggled to carry her monstrous pumpkin back to the tractor. Campbell was the slow picker outer today and honestly, I can't tell the difference between hers, Anderson's and Graham's pumpkins.
  • After the pumpkin picking, the kids played on all of the land. There were slides, tether ball (a favorite of the big kids), sand (Whitman's favorite), see saws and many other things. If the weather was a just a bit cooler, I think that my kids could have stayed all afternoon long.
  • As it was, when we did leave, we had to scurry on out of there and hurry home. We dropped Grannymom off at the curb and kicked Nonna and Pops out and drove home as quickly as possible.
  • Once at home, the kids changed into their Halloween costumes, Robby and I worked on goody bags for the kids tonight, I got myself ready and then we unloaded the car as the kids climbed in. My fireplace now has 13 pumpkins sitting on it.
  • We arrived at the Pennington's house and shortly thereafter, so did the McGuires. Everyone took our customary Halloween picture out front. Jaymie came soon with supper and we ate. After eating the kids played some and the adults talked. No one stayed too late and on the way home, the kids asked why we left so early. We explained that they all had school tomorrow and it was like we were trying to explain a foreign concept to the kids. I guess my crew is pretty fortunate-tomorrow is Bible study for us tomorrow so we have an early morning too.

  • Most of the kids were stirring as we were getting up this morning.  We had powdered donuts yesterday and there were leftovers -- so that might have been why a few were up and eating.
  • Soon Whitman was dressed and he and Robby were out the door. His class was playing outside today in the 'garden' area which included some water playing too so he was excited about going to school. (But he usually is no matter what activity is planned.)
  • Back here we were on a mission to get school done since I would heading out for an eye appointment in the early afternoon.  We got most of the work done and I left them with the rest of their school work and chores to be done and lunch to be made.
  • When I returned home, school work was done and chores for the most part were done and most of the kids were playing board games. And Nonna and Pops were soon arriving to drop off Whitman.  They brought snacks too so that was a hit with everyone.
  • Then we sent everyone outside to enjoy some of this beautiful weather.  I took turns with each kid to cull through shoes to figure out who had out grown what and who could fit into any hand me downs.  I managed to clear out quite a few shoes.
  • Robby went outside when he was done with work for some football throws and drone flying.  I left for a few errands before Bunko at Sara's tonight.
  • Meanwhile, Robby reports the kids trickled back in for showers and then a pizza supper. (Robby had me pick up a few mystery shops on my way home from my eye appointment so they would have supper tonight.)
  • They ended up the night watching a Shark Tank and a Toy Box before everyone brushed their teeth and headed to bed.
  • A bit of news -- we did sell our minivan today to a man and wife with no kids ?!?! They needed a minivan for their therapy dog. A lot of memories in the van... we bought it in 2008 when we knew were expecting Graham.  We took a few big road trips in the van including a West Coast trip to Oregon, Yellowstone all with a big Roof Bag with much of our luggage on top of the van.  It was a good car but with the kids legs growing longer and Robby no longer wanting to be a minivan soccer 'dad' - I don't think he was too sad to see it go.

  • This morning the thunder was rolling as we woke up and it couldn't have been any more wonderful. If only it was Saturday morning, and we could have slept in all morning long. Most of the kids were already dressed for church-we had different seasons represented. Sandals, flip flops, boots, short sleeves, long sleeves, shorts, pants. No matter the weather, at least one Dennie kids would be ready.
  • Whitman wasn't happy at all about us going to Big Church today. He asks me every time we go anywhere, "do we have to sing?" which means that he is asking if we have to go to Big Church. He was even less pleased about having to sit with Robby today. I took a break from the little squirmy wormy. Robby asked if he was the youngest one we had ever had in big church. Graham was younger by 4 months but he was more mature by at least a year or two.
  • After church, we ran to get gas and then headed to Grannymom's house for lunch. She had baked potatoes which my kiddos all love. I really probably should just put baked potatoes on my menu rotation.
  • The kids played the game of Life and played outside while Grannymom and I did some Christmas shopping and planning. We stayed a bit later than usual, but we were still able to have a pretty decent afternoon nap. I woke up when the kids were making way too much noise to be doing anything good-they had created some type of trampoline on my furniture cushions. Sometimes I wonder why I don't have nice things but then I just look around at all of my little Dennie people and know!
  • We all started picking up the house-the boys worked outside on the garage and car while the girls worked inside with me. Soon the house was clean and I painted the little girls' fingernails with glow in the dark nail polish and read a few books to Whitman.
  • Robby found the kids supper choices and we worked on that. Then it was time for to watch a show before bed. The kids enjoy watching the show Toy Box. Afterwards, it was bedtime, but I do believe that everyone is still pretty wound up. Hopefully, they will calm down without me having to go up there.

October 14, 2017-Friday Night Lights

  • We slept fairly well except for Anderson's strange sleep sounds. It is like he is clearing his throat while he is sleeping. The boy doesn't snore, doesn't cough or gasp for air so I'm pretty sure it isn't sleep apnea. I think it has more to do with allergies. He was making a racket last night probably because his allergies are bothering him right now.
  • I do believe that Robby on one side of me and Whitman on the other both slept better than I did. They were both sound asleep when I woke right up at 7-maybe it was the smell of bacon wafting up the stairs.
  • The kids migrated downstairs but Robby and I stayed upstairs until Les called that breakfast was ready. It was the best bacon that I had ever had. I had to hold the kids off so there would be enough for Shelley, Zach and Grannymom who were at Zach's soccer game and for Josh, who was still sleeping.
  • The girls and I played a few games of Uno Attack along with Phase 10. When the others returned, we loaded up and headed to downtown Hernando to walk around their Farmer's Market around the courthouse. It was late in the day so few vendors were there but it was a pretty neat place. Robby took the kids to see a cookie lady and all came back with the cutest cookies ever. The rest of us walked through a cutesy little store. I even took a few pictures of a things that I think that I could make.
  • Afterwards, we loaded back up and headed across town to Shelby Farms. They had some pretty awesome playgrounds that the kids enjoyed playing on. It was three different playgrounds the big kids migrated towards the swings, Campbell and Keaton enjoyed all 3 and Whitman loved the sand and water area. Of course, he had to have new clothes when we made it back to the car.
  • Then it was to another side of town for Jerry's Sno Cones. They were the ones with ice cream in them and they were delicious. Everyone had their own and most of the kids ate all of them. I couldn't finish mine but the ice cream might have been the best ice cream I have had lately (though I am going to have some tonight.)
  • After that, we headed back to Les' house and had a snacky lunch and dinner of leftovers from the tailgate. When we had eaten up, we loaded up and headed down the road. Robby didn't make it too long before I had to drive. I usually like to have my reeses pieces candy when I drive but I made do with a diet coke and a granola bar.
  • We made it home and picked up Robby's car from Dana's house (possibly we have an interested party on it), picked up my garage sale profits (100 bucks-whoop, whoop!) and dropped off Grannymom and Grandpa. Robby and I then ran into Kroger to buy a few deals. The kids watched the game in the car on the way home and then we all worked together to clean the car and unload everything once we were home.
  • Soon the house was clean, people were cycling through the showers, and we were watching the Hogs. The boys eventually gave up on the game and headed upstairs to watch a movie from the library. At 9, we tucked the kids in with a promise to wake them up if the Hogs catch up in the game.

October 13, 2017-Friday Night Lights

  • The first order of business today was sneaking upstairs and closing the boys' door so Whitman would sleep a bit longer. That he did, he slept through breakfast and then didn't wake up until 9ish.
  • The rest of us had our breakfasts and then started on school. I knew that we all had a lot to do this morning so everyone just had the basics for school-math, reading, english and the like. I did do spelling with everyone but that was it. Honestly, it was pretty nice. I should probably throw in more days when we do just do the basics.
  • We were finished in time for everyone to pack and do their chores before lunch. After lunch, we did a few more last minute chores and then loaded up.
  • Before we were really off of Lawson, we finished our book on tape-The Little Princess. Seriously, I think it was just the best book ever and the kids were thrilled to hear that there is a movie about it too. The author of that book was the same lady who wrote The Secret Garden so maybe I will have to go back and reread that.
  • We then picked up Grannymom and Grandpa and headed on our way. The van was full and everyone was excited about going to Hernando to see Josh play football. We did have to stop once for a potty stop and by the time we bought gas when we were almost there, I had to run a few folks to the potty. On our crazy long trips, no one ever seems to have to potty much but on short trips, everyone is pottying all of the time. I guess that they just train their little bladders on long trips and they are out of practice right now.
  • We arrived and the kids played a bit before we headed to the stadium for a tailgate. Les and Zach had gone early to set up. They had a huge spread of food-hamburgers, hot dogs, bbq, cake, cheese, sausage, cookies and the list went on. It was all delicious and we entered the stadium as full as we could be.
  • The game was a fun one to watch-Lewisburg was down by two touchdowns, then they came back with a vengeance and came within less than one touchdown. The game was a nail biter at the end even though we won by 6. All of the kids enjoyed watching it.
  • Now, Whitman-gracious. If he asked me once, he asked me 50 times "who won?" He had already asked me "who won?" before the initial kickoff. He did enjoy the game but I am not quite sure when he will be able to watch a game like his brothers. Anderson and Graham so both enjoy watching football.
  • After the game, we headed back to Les and Shelley's house. The kids and I played Uno Attack some. Then it was bedtime. Whitman was wound up but once we laid him down he was out pretty quick. We are all in their bonus room-it is just easier that way-we can be sure everyone sleeps and Robby hopes that I will count this as our camping out for the year. I do have the comfiest sleeping bag ever which I can't wait to lay my head down in.

October 12, 2017

  • This was an exciting morning at the Dennie house. There were lots of monkey bread leftovers for breakfast. We usually only have monkey bread at Christmas so this was a big deal. I had a few bites myself and even though it was still beautiful, it didn't seem to heat up extremely well. That made me a bit sad but no one really seemed to care-they pretty much inhaled it.
  • Whitman and Keaton didn't eat any. They had their eyes set on pop tarts so I let them. Tomorrow we will all go back to the breakfast menu (though tomorrow is muffins and since I am already behind for tomorrow and that day hasn't even started yet, it probably won't be muffins for breakfast.)
  • Whitman was having a big day at school-picture day, he was bringing a pillow for show and tell because it started with the letter "p," and he was the snack helper. Big time stuff for the little guy and he was excited to get into Robby's car.
  • We managed school today-some days are just easier than others and today wasn't one of those easy days. We did survive and soon Campbell was headed off with Nonna and Pops to do some birthday shopping.
  • Whitman and Robby arrived home and the rest of worked on finishing school. I then started on sandwiches. Everyone ate as we read a few books. Then, it was chore time along with quite a bit school catch up.
  • Some of us did run to Dana's house to lay out our garage sale stuff. I have quite a bit of stuff-though if I can just make 50 bucks, I will be super happy. No one really questioned any of the items that I put in the garage sale except for Whitman. He cried about me selling his scooter (he doesn't ride it, it is too small and there are 4 other ones here). He cried about leaving Robby's red car there so some one might see it and buy it. Don't feel too sorry for him because I did let him bring home one tiny toy.
  • Once we made it home, the kids played outside some while I showered. Then before I was ready, it was time to leave for Refresh tonight. It was great again-the kids enjoyed it. We had taco salad and the kids had chicken strips. Everyone was happy but hungry when I picked everyone up.
  • Tomorrow is a busy day around here-school, packing and football.
