Happy 10th Anniversary!

Today we celebrated our 10 year anniversary. (click here for more pictures)  It really just seems like yesterday - except we have gained 20+ pounds, our towels now have holes and we have 4 kids but other than that it doesn’t seem that long ago.

I don’t think that we had opened our wedding cake since our second anniversary so we decided to try it.  Even though it is probably not a good idea to eat 10 year old wedding cake before a road trip-we took a chance.  It was surprisingly moist and tasty (for 10 year old cake).  Maybe all those marshmallows did help – someone told us to do that 10 years ago.  Are the kids still doing that?

The kids enjoyed it and were quite upset when I said that I had to save a piece for our 25 year anniversary.

Highlights from today: (click here for pictures)

  • This morning was a pajama morning and then it turned into a pajama day
  • Mom frantically cutting finger and toenails before herding the crew out of the house to Nonna’s house-Mom ran to work for a little bit along with a trip to the library and some speed shopping at Kroger
  • Pops bringing over some potatoes for lunch which Reagan and Anderson ate.  Graham is getting picky and not trying foods lately.
  • Reagan getting a big knot on her head-Graham threw/ran into her with a block in his hand.  She said that she cried for Mom when it happened.
  • Reagan’s favorite dentist calling to check on her after her filling yesterday.  (And yes, she brushes twice a day and we brush after her each time…and no, we haven’t started brushing Campbell’s teeth yet)
  • Coming home for afternoon naps-Reagan wanted Mom to lay by her and Reagan and Mom fell asleep and didn’t wake up until Anderson started calling for Mom (so much for packing)
  • Anderson is always noticing things.  Today he noticed that “Campbell doesn’t have any boogers yet”  However, she does have a little rash all over her body…is it from her fever the other night, when she got hot yesterday or is she allergic to some new food.  Hopefully some benedryl will help.
  • Going to Grannymom’s house and playing while Mom and Dad went out to celebrate their 10 year anniversary (tomorrow). When Dad told Anderson where they were eating, “The Pantry”, he just laughed and thought that was the funniest thing.
  • We played and played and were very noisy and now we can hardly sleep since we are so excited about our trip!

  • Woohoo! Graham didn’t fuss this morning when Dad dropped him off.  Graham was distracted and Dad high-tailed it out of there before he noticed.  Then he waited outside of the door to listen for the scream but he never heard it!
  • Campbell had a little bit of fever last night (she felt fine and even stayed up late with Mom) but today she felt fever free…but her teeth must be bothering her since she can’t keep her hands out of her mouth
  • Everyone discussing their favorite part of the day: Reagan said playing with Anderson, Anderson playing with Reagan and Graham said playing with Reagan (he didn’t play with her at school though)
  • Having a snack at Grannymom’s house with Cash and then riding bicycles until Mom said it was time to go home because her and Reagan had an errand to run.
  • Poor Reagan, the other night Mom saw a tiny little speck while brushing her teeth.  Dr. Ted checked it and it was indeed another cavity-luckily we caught it in time.  And hooray for Dr. Ted because he just filled her cavity today.  Reagan was shy and skittish at the beginning but after a little bit of laughing gas, her and Anderson were chatting away.  She did great…and Anderson was quite worried about his sister.  Mom suggested to him that maybe he would want to be a dentist after watching Dr. Ted and he said no, he still wanted to drive a trash truck
  • Anderson and Reagan ate their lollipops that Dr. Ted gave them on the way home (Mom thinks he is trying to get more business by handing out lollipops)
  • Pops stopping by to deliver some mac and cheese and it was supper tonight.  Anderson has been asking to go to the mall and get a pretzel so Dad took everyone for a little snack.  Plus, everyone took some of their money from their piggy banks to ride the “rides” at the mall
  • Helping Mom pack before bed and then bedtime for the 3 big ones.  Campbell stayed up on the couch and busyies herself by trying to grab Mom’s coke.

  • Goodness everyone was hungry at breakfast today-Campbell had her cereal and 1/2 of a cup of yogurt.  Anderson finished off her yogurt, had a banana and another cup of yogurt and Reagan and Graham each had a banana and yogurt-sometimes they eat and sometimes they don’t.
  • Reading a few stories at breakfast time and then picking up 249 matchbox cars!
  • Grannymom coming over to pick the big 3 up and they headed to play at Rock Creek.  Grannymom said that they played and played-Graham can almost make it to the top by himself.  They were exhausted when they made it back
  • After lunch at Grannymom’s house, they took the crew back out to feed the ducks.  Reagan wanted to pet them (and probably bring them home as pets) and Graham couldn’t wait to tell Mom all about it
  • Campbell stayed home with Mom and finally took her morning nap and when she did she took a long nap (probably because Mom put her in her dark cozy “bedroom”) and not just on the couch
  • Everyone else taking a long nap this afternoon since they were “exhausted” (Reagan’s words) but then they were going strong when they woke up
  • Working on our workbooks, coloring, Reagan reading and playing legos for at least an hour.  The boys and Mom watched it rain and watched the cars drive by while waiting on Dad
  • Eating supper and then going out to clean the garage-Dad finally made it home to help and they were thrilled to see him.  Maybe they were thrilled because he said they could play in the rain…which turned into playing pirate on the front porch with Mom’s ice chest and a folding chair
  • More playing and then a movie before bedtime.  Campbell and Graham are in the same room-Graham still fussed but all is calm now.  Reagan and Anderson are on the 2nd bathroom trip as we speak.

Monday Confessions

Are we lost? Where are we? Is this the way home?....We heard all of that last night.  And the answer to those questions were yes, don't know and not sure.  We ate out after church and then Robby suggested that we drop off a Bunko present that was left at our house.  While I was on the phone, Robby took a turn I wasn't familiar with....and he wasn't too familiar with that turn either.  We drove and drove and turned and turned and unfortunately we got lost....really lost!  We learned that hard way that you should always have the GPS in the car-it doesn't do you any good in the kitchen cabinet.  We ended up in another town...and then even another town.  It probably would have been a prettier drive in the daylight.  This made us both appreciate the movies in the car for the kids and I was pretty appreciative of the full tank of gas and the map on the phone that got us home.  After an hour detour, we finally made it home!...and we had a blast!

Highlights from today: (click here for pictures)

  • Reagan is using her candy from the wedding to ensure Anderson’s good behavior.  When he woke up this morning, he told Mom that if he was a good boy he would get 3 pieces of candy but if he wasn’t he would only get 1 piece of candy
  • However, Anderson made sure that he had some candy without being a good boy.  He scooted the chair and found the candy on the cabinet and ate some on his own….later Reagan asked about the missing candy and Anderson said “hmmm, I don’t know what happened to it”
  • Graham and Anderson chowing down on donuts before church this morning.  Reagan did eat hers-after licking off the icing
  • Church and Sunday school for everyone.  Anderson came home with vegetables from Mr. Ralph’s garden-too bad Mom doesn’t know how to cook those veggies so he can try them.  Mom and Dad working in Campbell’s class and Campbell didn’t like it when Mom or Dad walked away from her
  • Eating lunch at Nonna’s house and Graham has learned a new phrase from everyone: “I don’t like it” so he now says that about everything.  But he sure did like his brownie and ended up having brownie on everything-clothes, table, Nonna, Pops, hair…
  • Anderson not wanting to go see Beebee and Papaw “because Papaw had the spits” (he did a few weeks ago but not now).  The rest of us went over and Graham enjoyed using Papaw’s cane…he had a blast with it until he started swinging it like a bat and Mom had to take it away from him
  • Afternoon naps for everyone until Reagan started the wake up chain.  Campbell even slept the whole time in her car seat (in the house-not in the car!)
  • Back to church tonight and then out to eat for supper.  It took us awhile to get home so Reagan and Anderson stayed up crazy late and stalling before bed by making Campbell laugh.  She thought it was so funny to see their heads popping up from the couch…so funny, that Mom let them stay up even later

Highlights from today: (click here for pictures)

  • A fairly early morning-early for a Saturday anyway.  Graham and Campbell did sleep all night but they were going strong by 7:30
  • Anderson was ready to eat breakfast so he bounded downstairs when Dad mentioned it-so was Graham.  They love their eggo waffles but Reagan (ms. picky) only eats Dad’s waffles with strawberries or blueberries
  • Grannymom and Grandpa coming over for a few minutes-Grandpa ended up working with Dad while Grannymom played with all of us.  We pretended like we were at Disney World-and we remember every little detail of that trip…maybe Dad will take us back soon!
  • Mom finishing her run on the treadmill and finding not 1, not 2, not 3, not even 4 or 5 but 6 milk cups on the floor throughout the house.  Hmm, I think maybe we should put that lock back on the fridge or just buy a cow!
  • Lunch and then finishing our letter Ds.  Mom let us use the glue sticks today and we didn’t make as big of a mess.  Then watching our Bob the Building movie from the library-Anderson could watch it all day long
  • Naps and then Mom had to wake Reagan up to get ready to go to a wedding with Nonna.  Reagan couldn’t believe that Mom said she probably looked prettier than the bride would look
  • Nonna came to pick Reagan up and take her to the wedding.  She really watched the unity candle part and knew as soon as it was over that it was time for cake.  Reagan really enjoyed the reception-the cake, candy, marshmallows, mints and nuts.  She had a big ole time and was so proud to bring home some candy for the rest of the family
  • Anderson and Graham going with Dad to Burger King for a bite of supper and then meeting Nonna, Pops and Reagan along with Mom and Campbell at Krispy Kreme.  Campbell even got into the act today-she tried to take a bite of a donut and held the hat the entire time
  • Campbell’s new thing is getting very upset when someone takes one of her toys away.  She lets them know about it and is quite vocal when she needs/has to be
  • Playing games on Mom’s computer before bedtime-Graham even had a turn and was so pleased with himself since he was like one of the big kids
