We had said from the beginning that this trip was going to be a little bit slower. However, I am not so sure that we are moving a little bit slower. After driving until almost 2 yesterday, our alarm was set for 6 this morning. I am not too sure about Robby, but I am definitly feeling the 4 hours of sleep.

Some of the kids were still up last night when we parked, but none of the kids were awake or stayed awake when we left this morning at 6:15. About 20 minutes before we made it to the campground this morning, I looked back and Anderson and Graham, who usually wake up when we are driving first, were still sound asleep.

We had to drive for about 3 and a half hours this morning, but that time went by quickly since we were finishing a book about Bob Iger. Soon we were pulling into the Campground at Fort Wilderness. This is really our new favorite place. It is actually a good thing that this campground is not anywhere close to home or we would be here all of the time.

We are in loop 300 on this trip. We had requested a bunch of different sites, and this is not one of them. Ha! Some people are able to request where they want to be, and they are able to get them-not us. Thankfully, this site is pretty great. We are in walking distance to the marina (even though we will probably never walk), we have a larger concrete pad than last time, the bathroom is nearby (some people like to use to the bathhouse shower-not me, but Robby had a shower there this afternoon), this is a busy loop (which we like), and we have a good barrier around us where we don't have to see other folks.

I think that the only con is that parking the car is a little bit tight so we are super pleased with out spot. The first thing that we did was hook up and grab the golf cart. There was lots of driving around this afternoon. Three main activities were happening-Christmas light looking, Scavenger hunting, and Stocking giving.

First-Christmas light looking. We have driving around probably about 1/3 of the loops today. I would say that most people have 2 or more blowups. One site probably has over a hundred-I am not exagerating at all. We are definitely in the minority having minimal Christmas decorations. There are blow ups that are at least 15 feet tall on some sights, toy trains, life size Santas and reindeer-I feel as though I have been invited to a party, and I am underdressed. Did I mention the site that has like 20 life size Storm troopers and 40 small ones all dressed in holiday sweaters? Our one red and green light shining on the camper is not cutting it-wonder if Amazon can deliver here? There will be no reason to go looking at Christmas lights when we get home after seeing all of the ones here.

Second-Scavenger hunting. We found the Facebook posts last time about the scavenger hunting and the kids absolutely loved doing this. So today, Keaton hid one thing and was able to find 3 different things-a cup, some chalk, and a Christmas ornament which will be our ornament from this trip. Even when we are not out searching for stuff, the Campbell and Keaton are constantly checking the phone to see if more things are posted.

Third-Stocking giving. Last time we were here, I saw one site had their stockings hanging out. I told the kids that I wished I had something to put in there. A few days later, I saw that people do put things in people's stocking here. So guess who brought 2 stockings here. I had to but them from the Dollar Tree, but we have stockings and things to put in them. I cleaned out quite a few drawers and have a decent stash (well, I thought it was going to be decent.)

We hung up our stockings on our pin trading board that we have set out on the site. Then where ever we went today, we searched for people's stockings to fill. We probably put things in 8 different stockings. I really wasn't expecting anything in ours. When we came back once this afternoon-Campbell and Keaton discovered that there were things in the stockings-2 ornaments, some Minnie buttons, and 2 hand sanitizer holders made out of Mickey fabric. I thought we were extra bringing things for stockings, but these people are just super extra here-and I love it!

We put the miles on the golf cart and lost track of time. We had to hurry to get supper on the grill-Robby made hamburgers for supper tonight while I heated up mac and cheese that I had made at home and bbq beans from Sams. It was a pretty good super except the mosquitos were out in full force. We had sprayed up so we were good.

Oh, I forgot-remember just 4 hours of sleep-we did make a run to the Disney outlet this afternoon. It is about 20 minutes away so we like to go when we are here. We didn't find too much, but we did find 2 pairs of Mickey ears to add to the girls' collection on their wall.

After supper, we cleaned up, made some of the bed and headed to Hollywood Studios. It was pretty crowded, but were were able to ride Star Tours, Smuggler's Run, Toy Story Mania and Rise of the Resistance before the park closed. We made it home about 10, and I started taking lunch and breakfast orders. The plan is to leave at 7:30 in the morning!....and maybe an aftrnoon nap (nah, I'll be out searching for more stockings plus there is a real scavenger hunt to do as well.)

We went to bed not early last night, but about the normal time for us. It was nearing 1 or possibly 2. That was fine, but I am not too sure that I slept very well. When I woke up my phone was on the charger but had not charge, and the side of my nose is so sore like I banged my face sometime during the night. I am not really sure what all happened last night, but when my alarm did wake me up this morning, I wasn't that crazy about getting up.

Robby was already awake and in the shower when my alarm did ring this morning. Bentley was already in bed with us. I did the dishes before taking my shower. Then there was laundry and at least 4 trips to the camper putting last minute things up.

By 8:40 we were on our way to church-we left much earlier than usual since we were in the camper. It didn't take us long to arrive and park. Robby set up the kennel to put Bentley up, and we all headed in the church house.

Reagan had spent the night at Kennedy's house so she arrived at church after us. After Sunday school, the kids were all downstairs so I would assume that they were ready to go as well. We usually have to wait on them or even call them when it is time to leave church. I gathered all of their Bibles to put them in my Sunday school cabinet so we didn't have to cart them across country.

We drove for about an hour before I got up to make lunch. We all had sandwiches today: 2 grilled cheeses (one with colby jack and one with American), 2 ham sandiches (one with swiss and one with colby jack), 1 half ham sandwich, 1 turkey sandwich, and 2 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. This does use one whole loaf of our bread (my sandwich was on the heels) plus we finished off one and a half bags of chips.

So when we did stop for gas in Olive Branch, I ran into the Kroger while Robby was pumping gas. I just bought one loaf of bread but wondered if I should buy more. I am back to my 4 loaves which i started out with now. I think that our sandwich eating will slow down some possibly.

The kids were all in decent spirits today and fairly sleepy-Cambpell and Graham slept the longest. Keaton and Reagan also slept. Anderson and Whitman don't usually sleep while we are traveling. Our next stop was at Buccees.

We all ran in to the gas station. Graham bought pretzels, Reagan found dried mangos, Anderson found a cinnamon roll for tomorrow's breakfast. Robby bought kolaches for his breakfast while I got a scone. Keaton, Campbell and Whitman all had icees.

There was also one quick project before we hit the road. The mud flap was coming off-so Robby took it all the way off. He had been hearing something plus this is what we think caused our blow out last year. Anderson helped and it didn't take them anytime at all.

As we pulled out from the gas station, we had manicotti in the oven. It shoud have taken about 30 minutes, but I think that it was still a bit frozen so we had to wait 50 minutes to eat. There was also bread so this was a favorite meal of all the peaople.

Our next stop was going to be the next Buccees, but we opted for a gas station on our side of the interstate. We hated to miss a Buccees but since we weren't planning on going in it was fine. While we were getting gas, everyone found their pajamas and made beds.

Currently, we have about 90 minutes left to drive. The kids are quite in their beds, and Robby and I are listening to a book on tape.

  • We weren't able to lolligag around this morning as long as I would have liked to for sure. Once we did get up, we were quick to start moving around and start the day.
  • I made macaroni and cheese to take on the trip and boiled noodles for a game in Sunday school tomorrow first thing this morning.
  • Then after my regular chores, I helped Robby moving the cars around-move the suburban, move the camper, move the minivan, move the car dolly, move the camper, hook up the car dolly, load the car, and then back the camper up. It is quite entertaining to watch all of this unfold. He suggested that I back the camper up, but I passed because I thought that wasn't a wise thing to do right before a trip.
  • Soon it was time to leave-we ran to ChickFilA so Reagan could get something to eat, then we dropped her off at church. She is spending the night with a friend. Then we went to Walmart to pick up a few things. Next stop was Nonna's to drop off a few things. Then we made our way on to Sams and Costco.
  • That was a lot of running around, but thankfully we were able to find everything that we needed. Plus we only forgot one thing which we didn't have to have.
  • When we came home, I worked on loading people's clothes into the camper before settling down to watch the Hogs play. Well, I didn't really do much Hog watching-I slept most of the second half.
  • As soon as the game was over, we headed to Immanual. Anderson and Graham are playing basketball with a bunch of boys from church. They have sure enjoyed practices and ejoyed the game today too.
  • It probably helped that they won. The team they played was fairly weak, but our team kept improving as they continued to play. Anderson was able to score 3 points so that was good. Graham fussed that we hollered at them too much-but we were really on our best behavior tonight so I am not too sure who he heard.
  • Once we came home, everyone had showers and supper. Then we worked on a bit of house cleaning. I actually should be working on the kitchen right now, but there is always later tonight!

  • I stayed in bed as long as I could this morning. Robby agreed to stay in the bed to, but he eventually had to get up and go do some work. I quickly knocked out my morning must dos before moving on to making my lists for the next few weeks.
  • We ran to pick up Keaton around noon. Robby and I had worked on filling the camper with food. It is filled-more food in the camper right now than in the house.
  • After picking up Keaton, we ran to ChickFila for them and Chipotle for us. Then it was some speed shoppping at Kroger. I had a huge list, and we managed to mark quite a few things off. Now, we still have to go to Walmart, Sams and Costco tomorrow to buy a few things for the trip.
  • Once we were back at home, I quickly made some chili. Then we headed out to Defy with everyone but Reagan. She had gone to work today. I think that they all really enjoy Defy-while we were there, I worked on some of my lists some more and read my book.
  • After jumping, we finished up the camper work and ate our supper. It was a new chili recipe but most folks did like it.
  • Right now, Campbell is making no bake chocolate cookies and Keaton is making snickerdoodle cookies in the kitchen and I am trying to hide.

  • Robby left the house super early this morning. I think that once he left, I started having crazy dreams. Possibly because I read that organizing book before bed, but I dreamed that I couldn't find a piece of paper. I searched and searched making a huge mess trying to find that paper. That is not the way that I wanted to wake up for sure!
  • I felt a bit scattered the first little bit that I was awake. I even tried to think about what I needed to organize for real in the house so I didn't lose anything again like in my dream.  Thankfully though I have lost nothing yet today-or I have been able to find everything so far.
  • I did the laundry and dishes before I started to wake up the kids. Anderson was the last one to wake up this morning, but when he did come downstairs he had his advent calendar that he bought last year to open.
  • Keaton had an dentist appointment this morning-a filling. This was supposed to be one of two, but ended up just being one of one since the other wasn't a cavity. Keaton was certainly relieved to find out that news.
  • We finished school, and I even did a little bit of packing. Soon it was time for me to head to the pregnancy center. Campbell and Keaton usually go with me, but Keaton was cooking with Grannymom and Campbell was headed to the trampoline park.
  • I did run one errand on the way and worked on a few more presents and stocking stuffers. Let's talk about the stockings. (Stop reading here, Robby) Those things are expensive. You can't buy a 16 year old boy matchbox cars anymore-stockings are pricey. Maybe I should just put cash in them next year.
  • When I left the pregnancy center, I headed home to Robby cooking supper. We had spaghetti which was delicious on this chilly night. Afterwards, we did our first round of pulling Santa and ornaments.
  • If you have forgotten, we have a Santa countdown that we do each day of December. Pulling the piece out each day it what we call pulling Santa. And our December ornaments is when one kid picks an ornament each day for Robby to describe the other to guess. It is always a crazy and rowdy time which we love.
  • After cleaning up from supper, I watched Christmas movie under my blanket!

  • Another day that my people were pretty difficult to wake up this morning. It has probably been because we have been letting them stay up a little bit later since we are kind of in between schedules around here.
  • Lately, we have done a week of school, off for a week, another week of school and off again. This is an on school week, but since next week is an off week there isn't much motivation. Oh, don't get me wrong-things are happening and school work is being done.
  • Keaton is probably the one with the most motivition right now. She is acutally working on her school work right now. Reagan has her big final tomorrow morning so she will probably be studying into the night. But other than those two, everyone else is just getting by-me included.
  • After doing our school, Reagan headed to work. And soon after that, the rest of us headed to Defy for some jumping time. We acutually bought passes for this year, and they started early in December. So this was our first visit-and yes, I'm keeping my list so I can track just how many times that we visit.
  • When we came home, it was soon time for us to head back to church. We waited on Reagan to get back from work, then ran to the library before church.
  • After church, we all had leftovers for supper before I finally snuck away to watch a Christmas movie. I also had to wait my turn on my computer since Keaton was working on it. Now, time for hot chocolate for me!

  • This morning started off with Bentley whining becuase of the thunder. Robby let her out of her kennel and put her in bed with us. Now, we should have been getting up at this time, but who would get up with it thundering outside?
  • I went back to sleep and woke once to Robby beside me. However, I eventually realized that it wasn't him-it was still Bentley. I think that dog could have slept for 2 more hours had I not disturbed her when I got of bed.
  • I read to Campbell, Keaton and Whitman this morning. We are still woefully behind in history, but we are super ahead in science so maybe things will even about eventually. Or maybe they won't-I'm really fine either way. We have been reading about Ivan the Terrible, and even though this is interesting, it doesn't really impact my daily life that much.
  • After reading, they all got to work on the rest of their school. Whitman is doing stinking long division. He can do it, but he isn't fast. (65,896/358=) It isn't fun at all for sure.
  • When we did finish school, Nonna and Pops came over to pick up Campbell, Keaton and Whitman so they could help decorate their house. Whitman heard that the girls were going so he wanted to go. They had lunch and decorated fairly quickly. When I did come to pick them up, Keaton was trying out my hot rollers from 30 years ago.
  • While they were gone, I went out with Grannymom to do some of my Christmas and birthday shopping. I don't do a lot of clothes shopping, but I can spend a lot of money quickly for sure. I had fun though-even bought something for Bentley.
  • This afternoon, I read for a little bit before it was time to take the boys to basketball practice. This is just their second practice. While they were there, Campbell, Keaton and I did some speed shopping-that was really all there was time for.
  • Back at home we had time for some snacks, showers and a bit of tv before bed this evening.
