Awana Family Fun Night!
Highlights from today:  (click here for pictures)
  • A lazy Wednesday around here-even after my shower, I put my pajamas back on.  We did cut fingernails, dust, clean the bathrooms, make breakfast, sweep, clean the kitchen and make lunches for tomorrow all before 10.  Well, mostly I did all of that!  Back to the kids….
  • Fingernail cutting was today and Anderson is the easiest to do.  I have to wrestle with Campbell, distract Graham and ignore Reagan’s whining.  I usually do toenails on the same day but decided to skip today.
  • Breakfast was cinnamon rolls from the can.  They were so excited about getting to help make them so I felt bad when all they got to do was plop the roll in the pan and then they were done.  They still devoured them and were very upset that I only had one can of them (I had bought the small pan).
  • Our lunch was a little delayed today because I made them watch a little extra tv.  I was changing the channel on the tv but the tiny screen showing what was on blurted out the “b” word even though it was a cartoon for all to hear.  So I thought they needed a little bit of child friendly tv to clear the air.  Even though, no one noticed a thing-they didn’t even hear my heart skip a beat!
  • While the kids were watching their approved tv, it was a new show for them (Max and Ruby) and the commercials were advertising adult products (Cascade, Fabreeze and the like).  Usually their shows advertise kids products so they hadn’t seen anything like this.  They kept telling me things like oh, you need that or I wish you had that.  Kind of scary how well advertising works
  • Since it is Wednesday, the tornado sirens were testing.  Graham heard them and said “I think I hear a firetruck.”  I told him it was the sirens and they were practicing.  He came to me, put his hand on my leg and said “I need my Daddy.”  He told me this until they went off.
  • Soon it was nap time and then time for supper.  We still had to get our clothes on before leaving for church.  It was Cubbie celebration night and Graham was so excited about getting to hear the speaker.  They played Nickelodeon type games and they guy was real good to let everyone get a chance to do something.
  • The first game was passing buckets up and down the filled pews so they could be collected at the end and make a tower.  The kids were so excited.  The next game they were able to do was going up on stage and passing sponges as fast as you could so they could stick it in a kids shirt to make him a muscle man.  All of the 3, 4 and 5 year olds were doing this so it was a big group.  Reagan was not going up there at all until she saw me and the boys head up.  Soon she was right behind us.
  • After the show was over, it was time for ice cream out back and then they even played on the playground for a few minutes.  Campbell is quite the walker and slider.  She thought she was something else going down the slide.  And she did NOT want to leave-as I took her to the car, she beat me on the back with both of her little hands.
